If you’ve experienced some shockingly slow results from your Windows Home Server-based unit, we’ve one question for you: do you have Power Pack 1 and the HP add-ons installed? If so, you may not be alone in your frustrations. Apparently a number of users have seen dramatic slowdowns that have rendered their WHS devices nearly unusable. It seems that all the “bloatware” really takes a toll, as the hard drives are constantly pounded and console menus take ages (minutes, to be more precise) to appear. According to Within Windows, the only real solutions are to install more RAM and / or tweak your pagefile configurations afterwards. Anyone else raging mad about the performance issues? What are you going to do about it?
[Thanks, Bryant]

digg_url = ‘http://digg.com/nintendo/The_Wii_Keyboard_exactly_what_the_name_suggests’; Next time you sit down to write your Great American Novel, perhaps you should consider tapping the opus out on your Wii with Logic 3’s weird and somewhat awful — though excellently named — Wii Keyboard. There’s not much meat on these bones — it’s simply an add-on for Nintendo’s console that allows you to type on a QWERTY pad rather than light-sabering all over your apartment to name your new Mii “Death Bringer.” The ‘board is due out July 18th (in the UK at least) and will nab a tidy £14.99 (or about $30).

About 48 milliseconds after the format war was officially over, rumors started running rampant (again) about Blu-ray making its way over to Microsoft’s latest console. Now, however, those rumors actually have some legs — well, at least a leg. According to Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics US president, “Sony is in talks with console rival Microsoft about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360.” For whatever it’s worth, the exec also noted that it was having similar discussions with Apple, which has yet to even offer a Blu-ray option on any of its machines. Unfortunately, not a peep was uttered about potential launch dates and the like, but you can rest assured that we’ll be keeping an ear dangerously close to the ground.
