Oh sure, there’s absolutely no viable reason for ASUS to slap an Eee moniker on this all-in-one desktop, but it’s there, so we just couldn’t resist the mention. Now that we’re beyond that, this touchscreen-based desktop — which was peeked way back in June — is finally showing signs of life courtesy of a formal pre-order page hosted up at Play.com. The all white machine packs a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 15.6-inch LCD, Windows XP Home, a 1.3-megapixel camera, built-in stereo speakers, WiFi, a slew of ports and an integrated graphics set. The current release date is set for November 20th, though we wouldn’t bet the farm on that or anything. At any rate, those unable to resist can plunk down £399.99 ($685) right now and look forward to free delivery in just over a month.

Who woulda thunk it? All-in-ones are officially back in. Yeah, some would argue that they never really left, but with Sony’s latest family of monitor-bound PCs and HP’s freshened TouchSmart line upping the ante, we’d say the war is back on. The high(er)-end TouchSmart IQ506 was recently taken for a ride over at DesktopReview, and it didn’t take long for them to realize that HP was aiming for something very different with this machine. Rather than catering to the gaming or barebones crowd, this one emphasizes interaction and entertainment, and apparently, it did so in fantastic fashion. Additionally, those folks couldn’t resist cracking the casing open and giving us a look inside, so if you’ve got a thing for untouched PCB and silicon, you know where to look.
[Thanks, Janet]

After spending a bit of time with Sony’s new all-in-one desktop lineup at CEDIA 2008, it was easy to recognize that some serious thought went into the design. CNET was able to corral one of the lower-end JS units, the VAIO VGC-JS190J to be specific, and took the time to determine whether the innards were as delightful as the exterior. Overall, critics found that it was the “best deal” going on an all-in-one desktop with an inbuilt Blu-ray drive, and amazingly, they found it “relatively free of software clutter.” Furthermore, they yearned for more screen space than just 20-inches when watching those BD flicks, but outside of that, they found that “no other all-in-one, including Apple’s iMac, could do as much, as fast, for the same price.” Sounds like a winner, no?

Rather than taking the circular approach, Sony’s choosing more traditional design models to follow with its latest trio of all-in-one PCs. As you can see in the gallery over at Engadget HD, the larger of the two were actually mounted up on swing-arms in the outfit’s CEDIA booth, essentially acting as monitors for watching TV / playing PS3. The small guy didn’t do a whole lot for us, but the two hung up on the wall were pretty svelte. See for yourself, won’t you?

We were already warned that Sony was gearing up to push the Blu-ray / HD recording abilities of its VAIO machines, and here’s all the proof you need that it plans on keeping its word. Here at CEDIA, the outfit has unveiled a trio of new all-in-one desktop PCs — not quite ready for an HTPC label, but definitely catering to the hordes of high-def junkies out there. The VAIO JS, LV and RT desktop models all boast at least an optional integrated BD optical drive, and surprisingly, each model is incredibly distinct. For instance, the budget-minded JS boasts a 20.1-inch XBRITE-ECO LCD alongside an integrated webcam and microphone for $1,000, while the LV includes a 24-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) screen, optional BD writer and built-in DVR functionality with up to 1TB of storage; furthermore, it offers an HDMI input for connecting your set-top-box or PS3. The $3,300 (and up) RT comes with a 25.5-inch Full HD LCD aimed at video editors, and there’s also integrated digital TV tuners, HDMI in / out, up to 8GB of RAM and one of Intel’s Core 2 Quad CPUs. The trifecta should arrive in mid-October for those interested, and there’s one more luscious angle after the break.

AOC’s 2230Fh LCD was fine and dandy, but if you’re looking for something similar to pull triple duty as a media player and digital photo frame (its words, not ours), you’ll need to refocus on the 2230Fm. Said display is apparently the first from the firm to boast HD3 technology, which alludes to its abilities to function as more than just an HDTV. The unit includes a proprietary menu and remote to play back clips loaded onto memory cards (there’s a 4-in-1 reader), not to mention a 1,680 x 1,050 native resolution, 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, USB 2.0 socket, DVI / HDMI inputs, integrated speakers, 2-millisecond response time and a piano black finish. All that for $399.99. Full release posted after the jump.

Yeah, we realize that the first two words after “HP TouchSmart IQ504 PC” are “coming soon,” but apparently the web design humanoid forgot to notice that little “Ships same day” note down there by the Purchase button. That’s right kids, HP’s latest all-in-one PC (you know, the TouchSmart 2) is all boxed up and ready to be shipped to your home or office. All’s that left for you to do is scrounge up $1,249.99 and punch in those gory details e-tailers tend to ask for.

HP decided to show off its new wares in Berlin — which is a rather strenuous yacht trip from the Engadget HQ, or so we hear — but was kind enough to throw up a few pictures of the new gear in action. The TouchSmart 2 is a particularly interesting product in light of Microsoft’s newfound emphasis on touchscreens in Windows 7. This could be a sign of things to come, or just a fun little approach to the all-in-one desktop for the here and now, but either way we’re rather curious as to what makes a second human necessary in the operation of this unit. What is your purpose, Mr. Blue Shirt man?

A year and a half ago, Bill Gates himself announced the TouchSmart PC chunk. This time, a simple press release will have to do the job as HP announces the $1,299 TouchSmart IQ504 (PC) and $1,499 TouchSmart IQ506 (PC with TV tuner). Arguably, the thinner, touchier, bigger, 22-inch all-in-ones deserve better. Inside the 2.6-inch thick chassis you’ll find a 500GB disk, 256MB of NVIDIA GeForce 9300 M HS HD graphics, 802.11n WiFi, and 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo T5850 processor thumping through the cycles. Launching in 17 countries next month including the UK, Japan, and the US. Another shot after the break.
Update: Video courtesy of CrunchGear posted after the break [Warning: obnoxiously loud soundtrack]

TG just announced that this unnamed all-in-one PC is heading for a Stateside retail launch courtesy of Best Buy. There’s not a lot to go on here besides a few pics. Nevertheless, a DVD drive, 2x USB and what appears to be a slot for memory cards, RCA input, and dedicated multi-media buttons adorn the right-side edge. Around back we find Ethernet, a composite video input, and a few more unidentified jacks which might be Firewire and USB. The big mystery here is the price and availability. Then we’ll know whether this pup can take the legs out from under Dell, Apple, and even Gateway in the US, all-in-one desktop game. Backside-front pictured after the break.

It’s getting tough for steampunk fans to out-do one another these days, but DIYer Jake von Slatt has taken a solid shot at the crown with his latest creation, which one-ups most of the competition by going the all-in-one route. Of course, the fact that added thickness only adds extra character in this case makes things slightly easier but, as you can see in the fairly thorough how-to linked below, it’s still not something to be attempted lightly, with it even including a nail-biting encounter of a monitor with a table saw. Click on through for a video of that, and plenty more pictures of the entire process.

Yeah, we Americans have some pretty fancy toys to play with, but we still can’t help but feel a touch slighted each time one of these beauties emerges from South Korea. WithView’s HM-U500 sports a whole lot of screen and not much bezel, an ultrathin design and a 4.3-inch 480 x 272 resolution panel. Reportedly, the unit is available in 4GB and 8GB iterations and features an SD expansion slot, built-in camera, a kickstand, headphone jack, a T-DMB tuner, e-dictionary, and support for MP3, WMV, OGG, JPG, BMP, PNG and AVI file formats. No word on a price or anything, but for the US crowd who can’t just hop on the next flight to Seoul to pick one up, we’re probably better off not knowing.

Last October, not much was known about Lumenlab’s elusive “Q,” but now it seems the firm’s all geared up to dish out the deets and accept obscenely large checks. The Qmax still maintains a 42-inch 1080p LCD display, but we now know that you’ll find an overclocked Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor (humming along at 3.3GHz), 768MB GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card by PNY (also overclocked), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a trio of 1TB hard drives, the company’s own Hotwire powerline networking technology, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and a fairly swank cooling system for good measure. Additionally, you’ll find HDMI, component and VGA inputs, 8.1-channel audio, optional HD DVD / Blu-ray drives and an optional $1,500 touch screen for those with plenty of cash to burn. Reportedly, this beast is handmade in Asheville, North Carolina and can be tweaked to your heart’s content, but the general configuration will set you back around $10,000. The only question left, it seems, is why?

We’ll admit, HyOn’s D5 sure looks a lot like the Xent X3, but unlike its predecessors, this fancy navigator rocks a dual-DMB tuner. That’s right kids, this Korea-only unit sports a single integrated DMB module that supports both T-DMB and S-DMB, and if that wasn’t enough to get you in a tizzy, it also features a 800 x 480 resolution LCD, a SiRFstarIII GPS chipset, dual 1.5-watt speakers and an integrated antenna to pull in those DMB waves. Thankfully for those of us pouting about not having a residence in Seoul, this thing costs a whopping ₩490,000 ($520) in 2GB form or ₩530,000 ($563) for 4GB, so it’s not like you’d buy one even if you could. Okay, so maybe you would.

Another day, another all-in-one handheld for Americans to get envious about. As you’ve probably guessed, Navinside’s NX-7 is reserved for those in South Korea, and it features such niceties as a 7-inch WQVGA display, a SiRFstarIII GPS chipset, DMB TV tuner, text viewer, AV in / out support and a built-in media player to boot. Unfortunately, we’ve no idea what kind of storage you can expect here, but it is slated to launch next month for a currently undisclosed price.

Not sure how we missed this the first time around but NEC has an interesting little all-in-oner set to break from its Japanese borders. The Powermate P (P5010 to be specific) combines that 17.1-inch 1440 x 900 pixel display with a 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64×2 TL-52 processor, integrated ATI Radeon X1200 graphics, up to 4GB of memory and 200GB SATA disk, WiFi, and slot loading dual-layer DVD writer. Ok, not a workhorse, but not too shabby for a 4-kg (8.8-pound) slab. Available now in Australia and New Zealand (and Japan of course) for about $1,741 of the US green or $1,999 of that local Aussie stuff.

While all-in-one PCs come in many flavors from many brands, the one thing most of them have in common is nearly a total lack of customization. Not so with the Ion V2000, which is just a chassis with a built-in display, speakers and media card reader. The rest is up to you, and with all these fancy chips and graphics cards hitting the market of late, there’s never been a better time to stick it to the man and go it alone. Hopefully the next time around Ion can do this up with a little more sexy, and a price tag and release info really wouldn’t hurt, but we hate to be pushy.

Shortly after being leaked, revealed, unclothed and paraded around in public, Dell’s 20-inch XPS ONE is finally available to the masses. Up now on company’s webstore are four pre-configured systems, with the high-ender rocking a Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, Bluetooth 2.0, an 8-in-1 multicard reader, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO graphics set, and a 500GB 7,200 RPM SATA hard drive. Additionally, you can snag a built-in Blu-ray burner and a hybrid analog / digital TV tuner to keep the TV / film buffs happy, but expect to throw down between $1,499 and $2,399 depending on options.

There’s a select group of red flags that appear when a product is, or is dangerously close to becoming, vaporware, and we’ve seen just about all of ‘em when looking at McPerson’s I-TV. Apparently, this so-called do-it-all LCD TV first appeared last year, but now it sports a different look and a flashy website that will make you wish your speakers were inoperative. The set supposedly functions as a home automation controller, DVR, DVD player and Media Center PC, and just in case you doubted its prowess, this thing is somehow Viiv-certified and able to run OS X. Specs wise, you’ll find a 37-inch 1080p panel, dual 40-watt speakers (um, right), 7.1-channel audio out, built-in WiFi / Bluetooth, gigabit Ethernet and a slew of ports. Considering McPerson threw nearly everything in here save for the proverbial kitchen sink, it’s not all that shocking to find a £3,924.49 ($8,235) pricetag floating around the intarweb, and if anyone has any actual proof that this thing exists, feel free to dash our doubts in comments.

You probably remember the unannounced Dell XPS One we brought you the other day, and now we’ve received more info indicating that this media-centric all-in-one will launch “mid November.” Unfortunately there was no price associated with this supposed release window, but the document we saw did reveal several more specs, most notably the existence of “proximity sensors” and relatively-high two megapixel resolution of the webcam. That’s all for now; enjoy the new pic.
