More classics being destroyed for TV

August 12th, 2008 by

Hawaii Five-0 and The Witches of Eastwick are set to be destroyed, I mean be redone for TV.
The showrunner of Criminal Minds is working on bringing Hawaii Five-o into the millennium on CBS according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Like the original series, it is a procedural chronicling the workings of the fictional Hawaiian state police department. In the original, the unit was headed by Steve McGarrett, played by Jack Lord. In the new series, McGarrett’s son Chris will be the top cop.
While the characters, storytelling and pacing will be updated, “we will try to keep as much of the original show as possible,” Bernero said. “I’m not trying to reinvent it.”
The famous opening music will be back but may also get a face-lift, much in the vein of the theme from the 1966-73 series “Mission: Impossible,” which was rearranged for the 1990s movie franchise.
As for the staple “Book ‘em, Danno” closing line, there will be a version of it in the new installment, Bernero said.

Over on ABC they are working their potion to bring The Witches of Eastwick on to the small screen according to Sci Fi Wire. Not much more is known about the project except that ABC ordered a pilot for the possible show.
Hey network executives, what happened to coming up with original programming? I mean did you guys need to bring back or import shows Knight Rider, Kath and Kim and 90210? Well 90210 is OK, but the rest could have remained where they were. Please try to come up with something new and not remake what had already been done!

CBS 1 FCC 0

July 21st, 2008 by

An U.S. Appeals court has ruled in favor of CBS and over turned the $550,000 fine that was given to CBS Corporation for Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl half-time show according to Reuters.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit said the U.S. Federal Communications Commission "arbitrarily and capriciously departed from its prior policy" that exempted fleeting broadcast material from actionable indecency violations.

"Moreover, the FCC cannot impose liability on CBS for the acts of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, independent contractors hired for the limited purposes of the Halftime Show..," wrote Chief Judge Anthony Scirica for the three-judge panel that heard the case.

I am so glad that The U.S. Appeals court sided with CBS because the FCC has become way to powerful and uptight. We need to have some freedom of speech on TV and the FCC should not dictate what is vulgar obscene because the PTC complain in droves. Hopefully more of the recent FCC fines will also be overturned!

What if Swingtown were Fear Itself?

July 17th, 2008 by

Both NBC’s Fear Itself and CBS’s Swingtown are all new tonight at 10p and it is nice to see what if the two were combined. Kind of like the last Fear Itself had two of the leads from Psych who have sexual tension on the show get married on the other one.
So tune in to NBC’s Fear Factor and CBS’ Swingtown at 10p for some horror and loving!

William Petersen out of CSI

July 15th, 2008 by

William Petersen got his wish, he will be out of CSI as a series regular after this season's 10th episode according to Michael Ausiello.

"Billy is leaving," confirms the show's executive producer, Carol Mendelsohn. "But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don't think you've seen the last of Gil Grissom."

If I was still watching this show, I would care more. But since it is the #1 scripted show in the states I figured one or two of you might care.

Regis Philbin can’t say Shanna Moakler’s name

June 19th, 2008 by

I just love that Regis Philbin messes up names on Live with Regis and Kelly all the time, but I thought that he would at least be able to get the names correct on Million Dollar Password.
BTW Steven Webber gets better with age!!!
So check out Million Dollar Password on CBS this Sunday at 8p and see if Regis will ever say Shanna Moakler’s name correctly before the credits roll.

The PTC go after CBS’s Swington

June 10th, 2008 by

The Parents Television Council is urging CBS affils preempt Swingtown because well it is all sex, drugs and disco. I so hate these campaigns because what is wrong with a little sex considering it is following a show that murders people in unimaginable ways. Why is violence good and sex bad?
If you don’t want your kids to watch Swingtown, then monitor what they watch. If you can’t control what your kids are watching that probably is the least of your problems!
So to these groups fighting Swingtown, maybe if they were getting what the characters were getting on the show, they might have other things to do to preoccupy their time and not be so uptight!!!
So fight the power and tune into CBS’s Swingtown on Thursdays at 10p!!!

Bring a date or two to Swingtown tonight on CBS!!!

June 5th, 2008 by

After seeing the pilot, I want to move to Swingtown now!!! This show is sexy, fun and making me wish I was in the ’70s! It is has sex, drugs and disco and did I mention sex! We all thought the ’60s brought about the sexual awakening, but what we learn from Swingtown it was really the ’70s that awakened our innermost desires. Seriously I never thought I would want to swing, but this show showed me I need a boyfriend now just so I can swing.
Besides the inside look at the Swinging ’70s we also get a show about relationships and teen angst. Whether it is 1976 or 2008 those things never change and this show handles that well.
When I heard about this show, I thought it was going to suck (no pun) but I was so wrong, because I am hooked on this show like the characters are hooked on cocaine and quaaludes
The weather is starting to heat up on the inside, but the thermometer is rising on our TV sets every Thursday at 10p with Swingtown! Burn baby Burb, Disco Inferno.
BTW for those of us who missed out on the ’70s, here are some of the artifacts we missed out on…

Apple and CBS sued over Mighty Mouse name, lawyers come to save the day

May 21st, 2008 by

Filed under:

Might Mouse vs Mighty Mouse

When you were shopping for waterproof and chemical-resistant mice for your lab computers, you were confused when you wound up with Apple’s Mighty Mouse, right? That’s what Man & Machine, maker of the other Mighty Mouse, believes is happening, and they’re suing Apple and CBS over use of the product name, since their hospital and lab-friendly mouse came out a year before Cupertino’s model. Turns out that CBS — who have owned the cartoon of the same name since 1955 — sold the name rights to Apple, but Man & Machine are contending that the name in the context of computer peripherals belongs to them. Man & Machine want money damages and a court order blocking Apple’s use of the name. They should have just called it Danger Mouse. Oh, wait.

Here is the first show that will be cancelled this fall and ironically enough this show that sounds like a piece of crap is the show replacing Moonlight. And I am not just saying that because it is replacing Moonlight, I am saying it because it sounds like crap.

THE EX LIST is a comedic drama about Bella Bloom (Elizabeth Reaser, "Grey's Anatomy") – a single, 30-something, successful business owner who is surprised to learn from a psychic that she's already dated her future husband AND there's a catch: if she doesn't find him in the next year, she'll remain alone forever. During a bachelorette party for her sister, Daphne (Rachel Boston, "American Dreams"), Bella learns from the psychic she must revisit her past relationships and sort through the mistakes to find her soul mate. Skeptical, Bella begins to analyze every past liaison and failed romance with her close circle of friends, Augie (Adam Rothenberg, "Mad Money"), an endearing guy who has listened to Bella's love woes since college, Vivian (Alex Breckenridge, "Dirt"), Augie's long-term girlfriend, and Cyrus (Amir Talai, "Campus Ladies"), who's chronically unemployed and full of wry observations. Once Bella witnesses proof of the psychic's other predictions, her cynicism disappears and she begins her search. Along her trip down break-up lane, Bella is determined to remain optimistic and receptive, believing that when destiny reopens doors to the past, every relationship can matter in the future. Diane Ruggiero ("Veronica Mars") and Jonathan Levin ("Charmed") are executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox Television.

The only other news that can make my TV Fridays even worse is that because Jay Mohr will be starring in Project Gary that he will not be Monnlighting on Ghost Whisper.

Two and a Half Men gets killer on tonight’s CSI

May 8th, 2008 by

Two and a Half Deaths:
A diva sit-com star is murdered in Vegas and the entire writing staff is in under suspicion.

The writers of Two and a Half Men take over CSI tonight on CBS at 9p. I have to admit I am not sure what to make of that crossover after seeing that clip, but if it is anything like what the writers of CSI did on Two and a Half Men it will be hysterical!
So tune in to watch Chuck Lorre get revenge on some of the TV Divas he worked with in the past on tonight’s CSI.

2.5 Men and CSI switch writers next week!

April 30th, 2008 by

Next Monday the writers of CSI will write an episode of Two and a Half Men and on Thursday the writers of Two and a Half Men will write for CSI. While I don’t know much about what the writers of CSI are planning for 2.5 Men, looks like Chuck Lorre will be getting his revenge on one of his past leading actressed. Although he says it is based on a fictional character, some of the leading ladies he has worked with are known as such divas that it makes them look fictional. Could the sitcom diva be the first one he worked with Roseanne Barr or since her name is Annabell could it be Cybill Shepard or maybe it is a combination of all of them…Roseanne Barr, Cybill Shepard, Brett Buttler, Jenna Elfman and Jon Cryer. Hopefully it will be clear when we see CSI: 2.5 or is it Two and a Half CSI Men? Either way, I can’t wait to see how it all turns out. It will be the first CSI episode I have seen since K-Fed was on!

The other talents of the stars will remaim secret

April 10th, 2008 by

CBS has cancelled Secret Talents of the Stars after only one airing. I have to admit I actually gave in and watched it last night and it is obvious why they cancelled it. Oy it was as bad as George Takei’s singing. Can you believe the Judges didn’t think Sasha Cohen should move on? Maybe if that producer no one ever heard of or will hear of again didn’t have his underwear contorted in a bunch like Sasha’s secret talent the show would have lasted 2 episodes.

Some talents of the stars need to remain secret

April 9th, 2008 by

Wait I thought Geirge Takei was the comedian and Clint Black was the country singer? I am so confused. Actually last night the two switched professions on Secret Talents of the Stars on CBS. George I am sorry, but you need to keep your day job and Clint, who will move on to next round, you have a new night job!
BTW be prepared to be blown away by Sasha Cohen’s secret talent.

I am sure Sasha’s phones were ringing off the hook last night with men wanting to date her.
I want to thanks CBS.com for posting the performances on YouTube, so now I can erase the show from DVR and just watch performances there.

Before you watch Britney Spears on HIMYM…

March 24th, 2008 by

Watch the real singer Kaley Cuoco on The Big Bang Theory on CBS at 8p! This show will help ease you in to Britney Spears Emmy performance on tonight’s How I Met Your Mother at 8:30p and to cushion the blow of all it is Two and a Half Men.
But in all seriousness The Big Bang Theory is great comedy and since a whole bunch of you newcomers are checking out HIMYM tonight, why not just check out The Big Bang Theory too…I am sure you will be in love with these shows as much as I am!!!

BTW here is what Simon Helberg told me how they plan to top Britney Spears appearance on HIMYM on TBBT!

SOW: So How I Met Your Mother got your time slot and Britney Spears…what will The Big Bang Theory do counteract that?
SH: Well, nothing violent. Maybe Avril Lavigne? Or Jamie Lynn Spears? Maybe we’ll try to get her child’s birth live on our show (laughs).
