One might think that the BlackBerry Bold and the BlackBerry Storm could get along together, but similar to twin brothers who both aspire to graduate Magna Cum Laude from an Ivy league school, these two aren’t exactly the most loving of siblings. Oh, and toss in that iPhone 3G — which played a huge role in helping Apple sell more phones than RIM last quarter — and you’ve got yourself a bona fide mess. Check out all three getting shoved up on one another in the name of comparison just after the break. It’s a little uncomfortable at first, but you’ll get used to it.

Our money is on the one with more G’s, but that’s just us. The folks at iLounge managed to nab a comparison shot of the original iPhone next to its 3G successor, and while the differences aren’t anything you couldn’t have guessed, it’s still nice to see the two in the flesh — at least we think they’re in the flesh, this could be just a shot of the iPhone 3G’s rear case, which has been floating around iLounge of late.

Sure, we’ve sized these two up theoretically, but how well do Voodoo’s Envy 133 and Apple’s MacBook Air get along when sharing the same meatspace? There are certainly some striking similarities — both have gargantuan trackpads, for instance, but Voodoo has taken things in an aesthetic direction all its own. We just hope these two decide to be friends instead of mortal, cake-cutting enemies.

It was simply inevitable: someone was going to lay the iPhone and BlackBerry Bold down beside one another, and if John Mayer won’t stop sending himself emails long enough to do it, CrackBerry’s sister site will. There’s really nothing here that you couldn’t put together yourself from checking out galleries and videos of each device separately, but feel free to humor your sick mind by glancing over the comparative images in the read link below or examining the vid waiting after the jump.

While we’ve seen a variety of surveys pitting the iPhone against its most notable rivals, a recent study conducted by the NPD Group breaks down the numbers behind who left what phone (and what carrier) to acquire an iPhone. Not surprisingly, iPhone early adopters were “ten times more likely than other new phone buyers to have previously owned a Treo and three times more likely to have owned a T-Mobile branded phone, such as the popular Sidekick model.” When it came to carriers, Alltel and T-Mobile were said to have lost the most customers to AT&T, as consumers who “switched carriers to buy an iPhone were three times more likely to switch from Alltel or T-Mobile than from other carriers.” Notably, the lack of “corporate email support” was pinpointed as the main reason that many BlackBerry users didn’t make the leap, but it did praise the iPhone for helping to “bridge the gap between consumer-focused feature phones and productivity-focused smartphones.”

var digg_url = ‘http://digg.com/gadgets/Zune_vs_iPod_specification_smackdown’;
The new Zunes are official so let’s get to it: a spec-by-spec scrap between Redmond’s new Zunes and Cupertino’s formidable iPod foe. Unfortunately, Microsoft failed to mention the all important battery performance of their new gear in addition to a few other minor details. Microsoft fans will tell you that’s due to an iPhone-like surprise close to the November launch while haters will jump to the conclusion that this is a definite sign of trouble. Still even without that morsel, there’s plenty of data to masticate for comparison. The Zune 80GB certainly holds its own when pitted against the 80GB iPod classic on a specification table. That’s not the case, however, with the iPod touch as long as you’re willing to sacrifice the bytes for the touch’s bigger display and heftier price tag. It’s a tougher call on the flash-based Zune vs. the iPod nano — just how important is WiFi to you on a 1.8-inch display? None of this, of course, accounts for the oh so important user experience or the ecosystems supporting their respective players. As such, we’ll reserve final judgment until we have the new Zunes in-hand. Until then you’d best dig in fanboys, that November release is a long way off. The tables that follow will provide the fuel to fight the flame wars for the weeks to come.
