For those of you who firmly believe that Verizon plus Motorola plus touchscreen equals pure, unadulterated bliss, heads up: we have a bit of information that might be of interest to you. phoneArena has scored a screen shot of what appears to be some promotional material for Moto’s upcoming MING-esque doohickey, the Krave ZN4 — and it looks like we’ll be shelling out about $150 on a two-year contract for the honor of carrying one in our knockoff Louis Vuitton backpacks. Not a bad price for a phone clearly designed to rest toward the upper end of Verizon’s non-smartphone lineup, we suppose, and we’ll admit that it’s looking better in this dolled-up promo shot than it was last time we saw it. Separately, they’ve landed pricing for the Moto VU204, a basic flip that’s probably not going to turn as many heads as the Krave; that one is going to go out the door for $29, and you’ll get three free with the purchase of the first for the ultimate four-pack of mediocrity. We don’t have a solid line on when these are coming to market, but the Krave’s still a possibility for this month.

It’s all very confidential — the FCC has really clamped down on that of late — but one diagram slipped through the filter, which seems to protray the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 in technical drawing fashion. There’s literally nothing else to say about the thing, unless you’re itching to hear the IMEI number off the FCC label, but with the FCC barrier out of the way, we could see the Flip landing at T-Mobile any week now.

We’ll be honest — KickStart just had a nicer ring to it, but we suppose Pearl Flip will do. RIM’s long-awaited (and not-at-all veiled) BlackBerry flip phone has finally arrived, weighing just 3.6-ounces and boasting a 320 x 240 internal display, Bluetooth 2.0, built-in multimedia player, 802.11b/g WiFi and a SureType keypad. The battery promises four hours of talk time / over a fortnight of standby life, and while pricing and exact release details are still hush-hush, Americans can count on seeing it “this fall” exclusively on T-Mobile. In related news, RIM also announced support for AIM / ICQ on all BlackBerry smartphones, though it’s only available for USers at the moment. Feast your eyes on the links below for more, more, more.

The well-scooped TM506 from Sony Ericsson is now on sale, marking the first time that T-Mobile has openly and proudly admitted that a handset in its lineup can actually support 3G — despite the fact that they’ve had such gear for over a year now. Why the big secret? Until now, T-Mobile’s 3G network has been undergoing pretty much the softest soft launch in mobile history, and only now are enough markets starting to come on board to make the whole thing worthwhile. For what it’s worth, every previous 3G handset on the carrier has merely rocked UMTS, so the TM506 becomes its first HSDPA-equipped piece while also offering up a 2-megapixel cam, TeleNav navigation, and stereo Bluetooth. As of this writing it’s still showing “Coming Soon” on the site, but we’re hearing that it’ll be available today for $79.99 after rebate on contract.

Anyone who’s been jonesing for a U9 with a little more style look no further than the MOTOJEWEL, a new clamshell Motorola’s bringing to the UK this fall that’s being billed as “a phone so sassy that users will wish they could wear it.” What then, pray tell, makes it so sassy? Well, that’s an open subject of debate — but we’re guessing it’s mostly the “3D crystal-cut design” that rings the mirrored Midnight Quartz shell to give it that jeweled look and the “dazzling” purple keypad that you won’t find on your garden variety U9. Otherwise, though, the specs are sounding mighty familiar: 2-megapixel cam, external touch-sensitive music controls, stereo Bluetooth, Motorola’s CrystalTalk noise reduction — you know the drill — and unless Moto pulled a fast one on us and slipped in some 3G, it’s likely packing quadband EDGE. Look for this little gem (see what we did there?) as a Carphone Warehouse limited edition exclusive starting in November.

Well, here’s one we didn’t see coming: it seems that AT&T has wised up to the fact that Americans like their Symbian (well, at least a few of ‘em do, anyway) and wants to keep S60-equipped options on the table. Yes, granted, AT&T is a founding member of the Symbian Foundation, but the proof is in the pudding, and the last Nokia smartphone to land there was the N75 in May of last year — an eternity by mobile standards. More recently, the N75 grew up, got sexy, picked up some brushed metal, and emerged in Europe as the 6550; now, it’s surprisingly and unexpectedly been retooled as the 6650 for North American 3G spectrum. It’s got a 2.2-inch QVGA primary display, 160 x 128 secondary, 2-megapixel cam, AT&T Navigator (which means GPS), push-to-talk support, and HSDPA 850 / 1900 to compliment quadband EDGE. We don’t know exactly when it’s coming, but for S60 fans who cringe at the thought of having to blow several hundred on an unlocked set every time they want some fresh hardware, this should be welcome news.
[Thanks, Oscar M.]

Moving just a tad downmarket from the mighty morphin’ E8, Moto has rolled out three new members of its music-centric ROKR series today: the EM25 slider, EM28 flip, and EM30 candybar. The EM30 probably feels the most familiar, aping the E8’s design language but trashing the touch-sensitive wheel for a plain ol’ d-pad. It does, however, carry over the E8’s so-called ModeShift morphing keypad and features an FM radio with RDS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Windows Media compatibility. The EM28 brings the same style to a clamshell, while the EM25 reps the slider form factor. We’re seeing some shots of a T-Mobile branded EM30 in here, too, so it looks like the carrier wants something to slot in right below the E8 in its Moto lineup — a wise move, considering the E8’s considerable expense. Look for the EM30 to launch first in Taiwan (sorry, T-Mob) followed by other markets later in the quarter, while the EM25 and EM28 should launch on a more global scale in the coming weeks.

The Bold is still stealing the overwhelming majority of RIM’s spotlight at the moment for a handful of pretty good reasons: one, it’s actually been announced; two, it’s 3G; and three, it falls in line with the traditional (and loved) BlackBerry form factor. Lurking in the shadows, though, is the KickStart, RIM’s very first flip phone, and a device that could end up making a huge splash if it actually manages to launch at the sub-$50 price point that’s been making the rounds on the rumor circuit. CrackBerry got a way-early peek at the 8220 version of the device, which follows RIM’s typical naming convention by packing WiFi while an 8210 will hold up the GPS side of things (seriously, RIM, how hard can it be to do both?), and overall it seems that the R&D team did its homework from the quick impressions. The SureType keyboard is huge and apparently quite easy to use without making the phone excessively large, though the trackball rests deeper in the shell making it a bit trickier to operate — you win some, you lose some. The QVGA display is said to be just shy of Bold quality (which is a compliment, considering the killer screen on the Bold), and it’s always hard to argue with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Come on, T-Mobile, let’s make this happen.

Wait, Verizon actually decided it would be a good idea to make official a cellphone today? Oh yeah, that’s right — the Chocolate 3 was announced with a Sunday availability date today, but for those hoping to see the wrapper unfold a few days early, today’s your lucky day. The cats over at Laptop were able to acquire the new flip and test it out ever-so-briefly, and while initial impressions seemed rather positive, we reckon it’s the photos you’re really after. Dig into the read link for the full gallery.

We’d heard that the latest incarnation of the Chocolate series from LG on Verizon would be launching next Monday, but we’ve got some great news to close out the week, fans: you’ll be able to plunk down your cash a full day early. It turns out that the Chocolate 3 will actually be launching this Sunday, July 13 for the expected $129.99 after rebate, featuring a 2 megapixel cam, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an in-your-face set of external music controls, all in your choice of black or light blue. Just add an 8GB microSD card and the Rhapsody tie-in, and you’ve got yourself a little musical powerhouse here.

Sure, it might shoot 720p video, but you aren’t gonna catch indie filmmakers capturing the next low-budget masterpiece on Kodak’s new Zi6 HD pocket video camera. The camera is Kodak’s response to Pure Digital’s Flip and Creative’s Vado, complete with upright form factor, YouTube friendliness, simple as could be interface, a flip-out USB plug (with some surprising spring action), and, of course, totally shoddy video quality. The camera is powered by a pair of AA batteries, sports a 2.4-inch LCD, and can switch between VGA video, 30fps HD and 60fps HD. It’ll sell for $180 in September, in black or pink, but there’s only 128MB of memory on board — you’ll have to spring for an SD card if you want to do any substantial shooting.

We could tell by looking that RIM wouldn’t think of charging too many hundies for its still unannounced BlackBerry KickStart, but $49.99? CrackBerry has it that said flip phone will be selling at T-Mobile for a penny under $50 on a two-year contract, which certainly seems smart given the competition. ‘Course, we’ve nothing to substantiate this with just yet, but take one more look at that chubby side and tell us this thing deserves a triple digit price tag. That’s right, you can’t.

Though they’ve already been well documented (heck, they’re already on sale in some parts of the world), Nokia’s just now getting around to making its foursome of Supernovas official. The new line reps mid-range fashion (think L’Amour, but not over the top) and comes in your choice of two candybars, a flip, or a slider as the 7210, 7310, 7510, or 7610, respectively. The 7210 features a tri-band GSM radio plus EDGE, a 2 megapixel camera, and an FM radio; look for it to launch in the third quarter for €120 (about $189). The 7310 apes the 7210’s look but adds support for changeable Xpress-On faceplates, TV-out, and support for GSM 850, and while all that extra kit adds €35 (about $55) to the price over the lesser model, it’s available now. The 7510 goes for the flip form factor but carries over most of the 7310’s spec sheet, waiting it out until the fourth quarter for a €180 (about $283) launch in scary colors like “Fatal Red”. Finally, the 7610 (no, not that one) moves up to a beefier 3.2 megapixel camera and hits next quarter for €225 (about $354).

It’s been quite awhile since Pure Digital’s YouTube-lovin’ Flip Video Ultra came around, but folks looking for its rightful successor can finally stop peering around every bend in vain. Announced today, the Flip Mino checks in at just 4- x 2- x 0.6-inches and weighs 3.3-ounces — a full 40% smaller than the previously mentioned Ultra. You’ll also find 2GB of internal storage for holding an hour of footage, along with a sealed rechargeable Li-ion, 1.5-inch anti-glare screen, touch-sensitive buttons and a TV output to boot. As predicted, this pocket-friendly camcorder comes ready to upload to some of the most popular video sharing sites on the web, and users in the US can procure their own (in black or white) on June 5th for $179.99.

Pure Digital is following up its Flip Video Ultra, and not a moment too soon. With Creative’s Vado breathing down its neck, it was no surprise when we saw the Flip Mino surface in some leaked photos last month, and now it’s gone all official-like. The Flip Mino will retail for $180, and uses a built-in rechargeable battery instead the AA cells of its predecessor. It managed to shave off 40 percent of the Video Ultra’s size in the process, but the same 60 minutes of VGA video capacity are still intact. No word on exactly when this’ll be available, but we’re guessing it’s soon.

Don’t be ashamed, you’re out to get every last morsel of Kickstart goodness before RIM’s first flip phone ever hits the market. On the docket today is a half dozen slides detailing the Flip Experience, essentially spilling the painfully mundane minutiae of how the handset will function while talking, receiving a text message, showing alerts and playing music. Nothing too mesmerizing or unexpected, but the Matt Damon hateration is totally out of left field.

People sure do love them some Flip Video cameras, and it looks like the company is getting set to cash in on that popularity with a new model dubbed the Minos, which was recently spotted in a B&H catalog with a due date of June 4. It’s not clear what the Minos will offer over the existing Flip except a $179 price tag and your choice of a black or white casing, but here’s hoping Flip handles all that fame responsibly — no one want to see this guy go all Elvis and feature-bloated, you know?

If it weren’t for RIM’s “help, we’re stuck in 2006 and can’t get out!” approach of topping this thing out with EDGE data, we’d be all over its warm embrace of an all-new form factor — but yeah, seriously RIM, what’s up with that? Boy Genius Report has outed a few more alleged specs of Waterloo’s first foray into the clamshell market, the Kickstart – and it looks like we can expect a 2 megapixel cam, SureType (as though we couldn’t have figured that out ourselves), internal QVGA and external 160 x 128 displays, WiFi, and a true 3.5mm headphone jack. We’re also seeing some new shots with T-Mobile branding, which makes sense considering the carrier’s longstanding efforts to be on RIM’s bleeding edge. Oh, and just for the humor factor, RIM appears to be drawing parallels between the Kickstart and a few… uh, “objects,” such as the “anodized color” similar to that found on an “urban nomad tool.” So this is how product development goes down — explains a lot!

If we didn’t know better, we’d say Samsung really wants to develop some type of hybrid gaming / phone device. One need only look back on the plethora of patent applications from the electronics-maker to realize that something game-related is going on over at HQ. Whatever the case may be, the Korean company has applied for another iteration of device, this time taking a more modular approach to the layout of buttons and screen. In this new configuration, a RAZR-like clamshell would actually house a swiveling screen which allows the unit to flip open, thus placing the display squarely between two “wings.” The resulting arrangement would be a symmetrical device that would encourage a more familiar hand position for gamers. Of course, like those other designs, these are just images on paper — though it does spark the imagination considerably.

This is a phone we’ve seen in the wild on a couple occasions, but we had one detail dead wrong: the model number. It turns out that Sony Ericsson’s newest Z series flip is actually the Z770, not the Z660 we’d heard before. The company is billing the Z770 as a phone fit for people who need access to the internet (web and email, specifically) but aren’t necessarily interested in stepping up to a full-fledged smartphone, featuring “easy” email setup, zoom / pan features in the web browser along with an actual mouse pointer (anyone familiar with S60’s browser will get the idea here), and integrated support for Exchange ActiveSync. The GSM / EDGE 900 / 1800 / 1900, HSDPA 2100 handset will hit shelves in the second quarter in Vogue Red, Graphite Black, and Exquisite Gold.
