With a zoom this long, it has to be good, right? Evidently that’s absolutely correct, as the critics over at PhotographyBLOG adored what the FinePix S2000HD was packin’. The camera wasn’t the sharpest nor most evenly exposed megazoom they’d ever seen, but given the respectable asking price ($269), it was still deemed a winner. More specifically, reviewers found the image quality to be “perfectly acceptable given the build and asking price,” and while the video wasn’t true HD, it still trumped that of most rivals. In the end, the relatively compact 10-megapixel cam was seen as a perfect option for those not ready to splurge on a DSLR and a decent zoom lens, notching a very admirable 4 out of 5 overall rating.

It’s not making the same sized splash as the tidal wave created by SanDisk today, but Fujifilm is still vying for your flash card dollars with a bundle of newcomers. On the vanilla SD front, we’re seeing a new 1GB SD and 2GB SD card, while those scouting a microSD card can key in on the new 1GB and 2GB flavors there, too. Stepping it up are the 4/8/16GB SDHC cards and the tinier 4/8GB microSDHC units. There’s no mention of dollars and cents, but the whole colorful group should be on store shelves next month.

As the announcements continue to flow from Cologne, Fujifilm is vying for some time in the limelight with two introductions of its own. The FinePix Real 3D system is built around a “newly-developed 3D processor and a twin-lens camera concept” which enables 3D capture and even 3D printing. As of now, no actual products have been revealed to take advantage of the technology, but it’s evidently just a matter of time before your images are literally hanging off of your future digital photo frame. Moving on, we’ve got the Super CCD EXR, a “three-in-one” sensor that supposedly provides high resolution, high sensitivity and wide dynamic range. Essentially, this could lead to ultracompact cameras that provide stunning image quality without injecting high levels of noise in low-light scenarios, but sadly, there’s no actual Super CCD EXR-infused camera to swoon over just yet. Check out every last detail in the links below.

Not that we weren’t already aware of the FinePix F60fd, but it — alongside the S2000HD, J150w, J120, J110w and J100 — was just made official courtesy of Fujifilm. As for the aforementioned F60fd, it’s packin’ a 12-megapixel CCD sensor, 25MB of internal memory, an xD / SD / SDHC card slot, VGA movie mode, 3x optical zoom, 3-inch LCD monitor and USB 2.0 connectivity. If you’re looking for technical pizazz, the 10-megapixel S2000HD is the one to eye, sporting a 15x optical zoom and a video out port. You can take a peek at the rest of the ho hum crowd in the links below.

The S2000HD a bit too large for your nimble hands? Fret not, as Fujifilm itself seems to have leaked information on a smattering of point-and-shoots. Up first is the $199.99 FinePix J150w (pictured), which features a 10-megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, 3-inch LCD monitor, face detection / red-eye removal and an SD / SDHC card slot. The $189.99 J110w steps down to a 2.7-inch LCD, while the J100 comes in at $179.99 with a few less extras. The J15 ($139.99) gets doused in black or silver and includes an 8.2-megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom; there’s a J12 slipped in there as well, though it was already available in the Great North. Who knows when Fujifilm plans on making these official and releasing them worldwide, but considering the specs, we know you won’t lose too much sleep worrying over it.

FujiFilm Canada seems to have jumped the gun and outed a whole suite of cameras this morning. Starting with the headliner, we’ve got this 10 megapixel FinePix S2000HD with 15x wide angle zoom and 2.7-inch LCD. Listing for a thrifty CA$300, the S2000HD features a 1/2.3-inch CCD capable of capturing 3 megapixel images at 13.5fps and up to 6400 ISO at 5 megapixels with the help of FujiFilm’s dual image stabilization. And “HD” in the name can mean only one thing: this cam also shoots HD video (720p Motion JPEG) in a pinch. No delivery date but we expect that to get sorted just as soon as this becomes officially official.

The 10-megapixel, 1/2.3-inch CCD, 5x image stabilized optical-zoom lensed FinePix Z200fd is finally coming to the states in September for a price of $299.95. Fuji has kept all the cosumer-friendly features like dual image stabilization, dual shot mode, and a novel group timer mode that only takes the picture once it sees four faces in the frame. For you budding journos, a potentially handy blog mode automatically resizes images to 640×480 for all your important updates. And let’s not forget about the couple timer, which waits to take a shot until the lovebirds are deemed close enough.

Not that the Big N hasn’t snubbed the vast majority of the world before with these channel releases, but folks holed up everywhere save for Japan have yet another one they can only look longingly at from afar. Thanks to a new partnership between Nintendo and Fujifilm, the Wii Digicam Print Channel is immediately available for Japanese Wii consoles to access, which essentially gives owners the ability to upload images from SD cards and receive customized prints, photo books, business cards, etc. in the mail. We’re not totally at all sure why someone would choose to handle this on a gaming console rather than, say, an actual computer, but hey — who are we to judge? Oh, and for you folks in North America, Europe and beyond, expect the service to roll your way sometime in the future.

FujiFilm has made some pretty bold claims about its FinePix S100FS “DSLR-styled” camera and, according to the folks at Photography Blog, it looks like it has mostly managed to live up to them. They seem to have been especially impressed by the camera’s solid build quality, which they say leaves an “impression that stays with you” and, just as importantly, they had few complaints about the image quality, with the 14.3 x zoom delivering the goods and the resultant images boasting great colors and detail. On the downside, the camera is, as expected, more sluggish than a proper DSLR, it’s battery life is only “average to poor,” and it’s $800 list price isn’t exactly a bargain considering what you can get for just a couple of hundred bucks more. Of course, you can likely find it for cheaper than that if you do a bit of digging, which Photography Blog says makes it even easier to recommend.

FujiFilm just busted out another of “Z” for Zoom, FinePix shooter. The 20-mm thin Z200fd follows-up the “surprisingly good” Z100fd with a 10 megapixel, 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor; 5x, image stabilized, optical zoom lens; 2.7-inch LCD; SD/SDHC and xD card support; and ISO support up to 1600. It also features a new “love timer” with setting for near (1 heart), close-up (2 hearts), and sloppy-tongue-wrestling (3 hearts) depending upon the level of icky-sticky sweetness (or hipster annoyance judging by that pic) you’d like to capture. Set for release in Japan on June 7th for ¥40,000 or about $388 by the time it shows up Stateside to document your breakup.

For those of you who’ve recently dropped some dough on a new Fujifilm Z10fd or Z100fd, you’ve got some firmware to update. The company issued a couple of fixes today which tweak minor features on the cameras — though we’re sure a few folks will be happy to get them. The updates boost the startup speed in both models when using xD cards, enable camera-to-computer transfer with higher capacity media in the Z10fd, and adjust the underwater white balance on the Z100fd. Hit the read links, and begin your magical journey to freshness.

Bringing up the tail to Fujifilm’s pre-PMA announcements are four new compact cameras. The 12 megapixel F100fd ($380) features a 5x wide-angle optical zoom, mechanical and digital image stabilization, IrSimple, and a handy “dual shot mode” which takes a picture with and without a flash in rapid succession. It also brings a 2.7-inch LCD and likely useless (even for Fujifilm) ISO 12,800 setting. The “ultra-glam” 10 megapixel Z20fd ($200, pictured) targets the “movie-crazed Generation Z” with a “Dual Blog Mode” which automatically resizes stills or MPEG-4 movies for sharing. It also features the dual-shot mode found on the F100fd, intelligent flash, 16 pre-set scene modes, face detection, and a “stamp it” mode which replaces your friend’s faces with “fun designs.” Lastly we have the new J-series of 8.2 megapixel J10 ($150) and J50 ($150) compact shooters with 3x and 5x optical zooms, respectively. All available in March, all pictured in the gallery below.

How does a 14.3x Fujinon manual zoom lens, 8th generation 11 megapixel Super CCD sensor and new RP III processor sounds to you in a consumer camera? That’s what you’ll get next month when the $800 Fujifilm S100FS goes big box. Fujifilm’s “most advanced consumer model” features Dual Image Stabilization (optical image and picture stabilization), up to ISO 6400 sensitivity at 6 megapixels (ISO 10,000 at 3 megapixels), 2.5-inch tilting LCD, 3 megapixel burst mode for a maximum of 50 shots at 7fps, and unique film-simulation modes optimized for portraiture, low-contrast (soft), vibrant colors (Velvia), or general use (Provia). Sounds good, but we’ll have to wait for the reviews to see if there’s any substance to the hype.

Big and long is how Fujifilm’s FinePix S8100fd rolls. We’re talking a 1/2.3-inch Super CCD HR sensor with dual image stabilization (sensor-shift and digital image) with a burst-rate of 33, 3 megapixel frames at 13.5fps. Your $399 also brings 10-face auto detection, Fujifilm’s iFlash to avoid overpowering shots, and a VGA movie mode shooting at 30fps. Available March.

Brace yourselves, Fujiflim just let loose a flood of new shooters in the pre-PMA run-up. First up is the FinePix S1000fd, dubbed the “world’s smallest 12 optical zoom camera.” The $250 camera features a 10 megapixel, 2.7-inch LCD and electric viewfinder, burst mode, and full manual controls. But don’t let those DSLR looks fool you, it’s also fully automated with face detection, panorama shooting (stitches up to 3 images), and 14 pre-set scenes. Available April.

It looks like Fujifilm just couldn’t wait for CES to take the wraps off its new FinePix Z100fd, with it instead doing things the old fashioned way today by issuing a press release from its cozy confines in Valhalla, New York. A follow-up to the company’s now year-old Z5fd model, this one ups things to a full 8 megapixels and packs a slightly larger 2.7-inch LCD (not to mention a 5x optical zoom), while also maintaining a slim 19.8 mm thick form factor. You’ll also get the same “Blog Mode” and face recognition features as before, and your choice of four, two-tone color schemes, including pink, silver, brown, and black. If that sounds like it’s for you, you should be able to get your hands on one sometime this month for $250.

We first saw Fuji’s Finepix Z100fd back in July, but now that camera-buying season is in full force, PhotographyBlog has taken it out for a review and pronounced it a worthy candidate for your hard-earned cash. Of particular note was the 5X optical zoom, which is better than most other cams in this price range, and the image stabilization and face detection systems, which worked admirably. The camera also drew praise for its slick diagonally-opening lens cover and illuminated Z logo. On the downside, the Z100fd was fairly pokey to store shots and didn’t offer the absolute highest image quality, but those apparently aren’t dealbreakers — the folks at PB say overall, the Z100fd is “a fashion camera that isn’t simply a matter of style over substance.”

It would only take one case of having your precious data “mishandled” while in transit to spend some dough on a tracking mechanism for future shipments, and while we’ve certainly seen a number of options in the past, Fujifilm’s alternative is quite clever in its own right. The recently announced Tape Tracker takes the form of a standard 0.5-inch data tape cartridge, but rather than housing gigabytes of sensitive material, it hides a GPS system that enables data managers to “monitor important data assets in real-time or locate misplaced / stolen tapes instantly.” Furthermore, users of the device will have access to a secure, web-based application (aptly dubbed FujiFind) that can track several data tape shipments simultaneously, even through rural areas, within vehicles and inside warehouses. No word on a price just yet, but those willing to pay anything for peace of mind can look forward to a Q1 2008 release.

Unfortunately, everybody’s worst fear about the FinePix F50fd seems to be true — according to a recent review over at PhotographyBLOG, anyway. Apparently, stuffing a 12-megapixel sensor into this pocket-friendly digicam wasn’t exactly the most intelligent idea, as reviewers found the picture quality to be downright disappointing. Particularly in low-light situations, the camera faltered mightily, and images captured at ISO speeds of 800 - 6,400 were deemed practically “unusable.” Granted, the crew did note that it was expecting tremendous results from the highly-regarded F31fd’s successor, but aside from the “excellent face detection system” and the included aperture / shutter priority modes, there just wasn’t much here to fall in love with. ‘Tis a shame, really, and unless pristine image quality somehow isn’t your top priority (is that crickets we hear?), you’ll probably need to look elsewhere.

We know, some of you out there probably already bit the bullet and picked up one of Fujifilm’s FinePix S8000fd cameras, but for those holding out for a little reassurance, here goes. PhotographyBLOG was able to spend some time with this 18x zoomer, and on almost every account, this thing performed admirably. Deemed Fujifilm’s “best attempt yet to fuse the advantages of compact and DSLR cameras together,” it managed to warm the hearts of reviewers. Granted, they weren’t exactly pleased with the noise performance, but the zoom is really what vaulted this piece to a 4.5 out of 5 rating. So, if you’re not kosher with carrying around a number of lenses for your DSLR, but would like to snap closeups from the nosebleeds, be sure and hit the read link for the full skinny on what was eventually dubbed “their current ultra-zoom camera of choice.”
