Low light, candles in the corner — seriously folks, these shots are downright sultry. Optus’ HTC G1, er, Dream has been spotted and photographed in some random corner of the world, and while it basically looks like every other G1 you’ve ever seen in this hue, we’re absolutely certain that Australians in attendance are more than happy to have a look. You know where to head for the rest.
[Thanks, Tom]

Snap — looks like the Android-powered T-Mobile G1 is peeking out a little early in the form of a non-working pre-registration link on the my.t-mobile.com customer portal. No specs or info, but if you had any doubt this thing was coming on Tuesday we’d say it just got cleared up. Get ready for the Googlephone, kids.

It looks like Google was doing its best to spread Android fever in London this morning, with it taking advantage of its Developer Day event to show off a working Android phone for the first time in Europe. While Google apparently wasn’t quite ready to take all the wraps off the suspiciously Dream-like handset itself, PC Pro reports that it looked “far more polished” than it did in earlier leaked videos, and that by all accounts it was actually a “finished commercial device.” Google’s Mike Jennings was, on the other hand, more than eager to talk about the OS, and he even dropped a tantalizing “why not?” when asked if Android could be used on devices other than phones. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any video of the event available, but you can check out a few first hand reports by hitting up the links below.

Update: Video of the event has been found (thanks, rxgator). Head on past the break to check it out.

It’s not exactly a huge surprise, but Reuters is now reporting that T-Mobile will start selling a “mobile phone based on Google Inc’s Android software” (otherwise known to everyone else as the HTC Dream) “within weeks,” citing people familiar with the matter. The official announcement will apparently happen in New York City this month, with two sources further pegging the date for the announcement down to September 23rd, which mostly lines up with the details The New York Times reported last month. Buckle up, folks. Things are about to get interesting.

We don’t have any idea where this information came from, but the Telegraph is reporting today that the HTC Dream will launch on T-Mobile UK sometime in November. That’s the same time frame we’ve heard before, and it certainly seems like El Goog’s first Android phone is close to its debut, so it’s definitely plausible, but we’d still take this one with a grain of salt — even though we want this thing yesterday.

Sure, we’ve seen some blurry videos and a few stolen glimpses when Andy Rubin demonstrated this beast, but now we’ve gotten our hands on a slew of pictures showing off a very real T-Mobile-branded Dream in all its Android-running glory. Not only does this confirm the design spied in those FCC docs as well as show off that nearly-done version of Android, but it seems to confirm the fact that this will be headed to T-Mobile, and sooner rather than later judging from the looks of the above device. Needless to say, our inner-geeks are completely geeking out right now. Hit the gallery below for a handful of other views of the phone.

It’s an interesting day for the folks at Google. Not only do we see the supposed GPhone (AKA, the HTC Dream) get trotted out to the FCC, and hear new rumors about the device’s release date, but now there’s a brand-spanking-new release of the Android SDK available. The version? 0.9 — a number which puts this dangerously close to a number that most would consider non-beta. Meanwhile, the new version of the mobile OS has been significantly changed, adding a new widgetified (big old clock: present!) and flickable homescreen, a handy (and speedy) tab to pull up your apps, plus a media player, camera, and handful of other noticeable design tweaks. Don’t believe us? Check out the video after the break showing it all in action.
Update: We’ve included a gallery of screenshots as well. Check out the sync contacts option. Sweet! Also, you may note that it asks you to “open keyboard to compose message” in the SMS screen — almost like it’s made for a device with a slide-out keyboard.
