Hope you’re not too sleepy, you hacker you, ’cause we’ve got a juicy one coming your way. No sooner did we find that the Netflix Player would be streaming content from other players in the industry later this year than Roku opens up the source code vault. You heard right — the GPL code has now been posted for the world to see, meaning that there’s just one link standing between you and umpteen delicious tarballs. Mmm, tarballs.

I so have to pick up The Love Guru’s soundtrack because Mike Myers actually made me love that song More Than Words. Hopefully the next video off the soundtrack will be 9-5!!!

DVD rental kiosks have been lighting up pharmacies and supermarkets across the US, but it seems that UKers and Irish lads / dames will soon have the great, great privilege of interfacing with Movie Booths in the near future. This particular unit doesn’t seem all too different from other variations we’ve seen, boasting a simple touchscreen display and a built-in android tasked with fetching your selected title and spitting it out for a nominal (read: undisclosed) fee. Apparently, trials have been deemed a success in outlets like Tesco, Centra and Applegreen, thus paving the way to see these pop up everywhere by the year’s end. Any chance we’ll see a Blu-ray Disc or two popped in there?

Wow. That is one of the most shocking scenes I have seen in a movie in a long time, if not the most shocking.
This is the second scene I have seen from On The Doll and the first one was Brittany Snow punching some guys balls over and over again! After seeing both scenes from On The Doll that is out today, I can’t wait to see the movie. Is that wrong?
And ladies it is a great movie to keep and save for when your boyfriends cheats on you! Make him sit down and watch this with you, I doubt he will cheat on you again. But then again that might not be the only thing he will not want to do with you again…unless he is in to that sort of thing!

If you thought Brittany Snow was a bad a$$ when she played a white supremacist on Nip/Tuck. that is nothing compared to her role in On The Doll that is out on DVD June 17th. Thomas Mignone’s feature debut might not look like something you (men) would want to see from this clip, but if you watch the trailer you will want to see On The Doll next Tuesday.
On The Doll is a story of the victims of child abuse, and the pain it visits upon their later lives. With interweaving stories following victims and victimizers, the film depicts the variety of experiences of abuse. Utilizing a young cast of up and coming actors including Brittany Snow and Josh Janowicz, the characters wander through their disaffected lives searching for meaning, while falling into patterns that lead to more pain. The first feature by acclaimed music video director Thomas Mignone, On The Doll is beautifully shot yet emotionally wrenching, and sure to hit a powerful chord in its viewers.

Mike Myers and the cast of Love Guru are taking some of fun music classics and re-doing them Love Guru style on the soundtrack that comes out three days before the movie on June 20th! My favorite song on the Love Guru Soundtrack in 9-5!

E! Online posted this picture of poor Anne Hathaway wearing a fashion-don't…a really bad fake tan. But fans of Anne Hathaway's pale skin don't fret, she won't be sporting that look for long it was just for a scene from Bride Wars that wrapped yesterday!

No other actor, but Robert Downey Jr could pull off that role and make it seem OK. He looks hysterical in it and so does the movie! And I am not a Ben Stiller fan.
I can’t wait to see Tropic Thunder on August 15th!!! The movie looks politically incorrect that it almost looks correct.

Well, would you look at that? After a mildly uncomfortable wait, the very first Netflix set-top-box has landed (the Xbox 360 with plug-ins notwithstanding). Thanks to Roku, users can finally tap into (a portion of) the Netflix library without having to wait for physical discs to arrive — and for just $99.99, no less (though unlimited access to online films still requires an $8.95 or higher monthly fee for the traditional service). Better still, the HDD-less Netflix Player can even utilize a wireless signal to pull in streams, though your miles may vary on actual performance. As for ports, you’ll find HDMI, component, composite, Ethernet, S-Video and a Toslink optical audio jack. Initial reports are looking pretty positive from here (save for the glaring lack of HD support), but feel free to dig into the reviews below to get a better feel of what this box really has to offer.

When MovieBeam shut down operations last December, we had a feeling we wouldn’t be mourning for long, but we definitely didn’t see it playing out like this. Reportedly, Movie Gallery is asking for bankruptcy court approval to sell its VOD service to one Dar Capital Limited for a cool $2.25 million. Should the deal go down, the firm would technically pick up 1,800 customers who had once shelled out for the dedicated set-top-box — but really, why on Earth would any halfway sane investor exhume this thoroughly decomposed corpse and attempt to breathe new life into it?

PARIS (AP) - American directors Clint Eastwood and Steven Soderbergh are to headline the streamlined competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, which features fewer big-name directors and more emerging voices from across the globe. Eastwood will show ”Changeling,” a mystery set in 1920s Los Angeles and starring Angelina Jolie as the mother of a kidnapped child.

While the two week celebration that is the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival has yet to begin (April 23rd), I’ve had the opportunity to pre-screen a handful of films that will showcase at the festival when the red carpet rolls out for the filmmakers and stars alike. Are there films that will become buzzworthy by the time all is said and done? You betcha!
