Flour Power
I posted a blog last week that angered some people who didn't know how to read properly, I then wasted my own time defending myself and now I regret that.
There is a fine line that distinguishes the difference between exercising our freedom of expression and offending others, for example the debate regarding freedom of speech vs. hate speech…. i feel that this principle should apply to protestors also. It's a pity that some groups feel the need to assault people as opposed to fighting with words.
Whenever I feel the need to vent about something that feels unfair to me I reach for my computer, I don't run out of the house with abusive intentions. I don't expect everyone to react the same way, but I do expect people to respect each other. Maybe that's my first mistake? It seems lately I am learning that there are too many people who put another species before their fellow man and that's sad. I don't wear fur, but I don't think I have the right to ATTACK those who do. No one has that right.
PETA should focus their efforts on educating people on what they believe are injustices instead of seeking press via harassing those in the limelight. I received an apology too many days late from the PETA folks (the blog removal was too little too late) and today I'm pissed at the bag of flour thrown on Lindsay last night. Not because I got powdered down, but because the girl who threw it acted like an animal herself. I take that back, it's an insult to animals to group her in with them, my dog is FAR more civilized than that person. I would have more respect for them if they didn't use other people to get their point across. Lindsay, Mary Kate, Ashley Olsen, Anna Wintour and the rest of the targeted celebrities aren't the problem, I'm pretty sure they're not the only ones wearing fur, in fact, they should be appreciated by PETA for giving them a target. If it weren't for them, who would get them press?????
I know I'm probably going to get a lot of angry emails in response, but I don't really care. I got enough last week for no reason so I'm more than happy to ignore the nastiness after seeing what I saw last night. I'm not about to throw on a fur coat in retaliation, but had I had one within reach, I'm not sure I would have walked away from it.
p.s. when was the last time you saw an animal attack one of its own in defense of a human? hmmmmm….. that's one to grow on!
p.s.s. i think there are plenty of families that could have used that flour for a meal. nice job, lady.
I side with Samantha Ronson on this one. What did that woman accomplish by throwing flour on Lindsay Lohan?

Samantha Ronson took to her MySpace blog yesterday to let PETA know they kind of acted like A-holes by throwing flour at Lindsay Lohan while she was entering a Paris nightclub:

If Sam’s entry was supposed to be goddamn never-ending therefore making me hungry for veal, Mission Accomplished. On that note, you know what brings out the flavor of veal? Dolphin. I should be a chef. Oh yeah, Emeril, it’s ON!

Lindsay Lohan was pelted with flour on her way into a Paris nightclub last night. She’s been on several Worst Dressed Lists for animal rights group for wearing fur coats. Lindsay was wearing one last night (above) at the time of the pelting. PETA Europe issued the following statement (via E! Online):
“Lindsay Lohan might be able to ignore images of bloody animals skinned alive for their pelts, but we hope a dash of flour will help her rise to the occasion and forsake fur once and for all,” PETA Europe spokesman Robbie LeBlanc said.
Throwing flour at Lindsay Lohan? Jesus. And here I thought Europeans were smarter than us…
*THWAP*
LINDSAY: What the - Aw, no way, they throw blow at you here!
*THWAP*
LINDSAY: Ha ha! This club rocks!
*THWAP*
LINDSAY: Whee!

Everytime Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen do a book signing the PETA protestors come out to see them. Since neiter twin is wearing fur, I think they are the twins biggest fans!

Jenna Jameson posed nude for a new PETA ad encouraging pet owners to get their animals fixed. Apparently, when we’re not around, our furry friends are sex-craved maniacs who constantly get their Discovery Channel on. This explains why my cat bought a jacuzzi… Anyway, here’s some advice from a porn star:
“Until dogs and cats can go on the pill or wear condoms, we need to help them practice safe sex—by spaying and neutering,” says Jenna. “Millions of homeless animals are turned in to shelters every year because there simply aren’t enough good homes for them all. The answer is as easy as ABC: Animal Birth Control, which means get your Fido or Fluffy fixed!”
I don’t think PETA thought Jenna’s ad through. Not only am I too tired from masturbating researching animal stuff to take my cat to the vet, but I’m pretty sure he’s not getting fed either. And, on that note, nap time.
NOTE: Included Olympic simmer Amanda Beard’s nude PETA ad because what can I say? I love animals. They make awesome friends or the perfect snack. Go for the gold, Amanda. U.S.A.!

Pamela Anderson partook in some activism while in Australia today. She stopped by a KFC to hand deliver a letter to the corporation citing their abuse of chickens. (I hear they eat them.) Here’s an excerpt of the letter from PETA’s website:
I’ve been in Australia filming Big Brother, in which my housemates and I are confined and sealed off from the outside world, much like the chickens who are crammed inside barns for KFC. Fortunately, I won’t be stomped to death, have my legs broken or be scalded to death in a tank of hot water—yet, as PETA’s undercover videos have revealed, the chickens raised for KFC’s restaurants in Australia often suffer these abuses.
Here’s the fun part: Pamela Anderson made half a mil to appear on Big Brother whose biggest sponsor happens to be, surprise! KFC. Now that’s hypocrisy you can shake a nipple at. In the meantime, how the hell did Pam get out of the house? I thought she had to stay crammed in there like chickens in a barn, according to her letter. Way to negate the entire show’s authenticity, Pam. What’ll you ruin next? Christmas? Jesus, soon we’ll find out even your breasts are fake - Ho. Ly. Shit.

PETA has taken umbrage with Jessica Simpson’s T-shirt proclaiming “Real Girls Love Meat.” They decided to take the moral high ground and respond with a list of five reasons “Why only stupid girls brag about eating meat.” Sciencey! Here’s my personal favorite gem:
4. Meat will make you fat. All the saturated fat and cholesterol in chicken wings, pork chops, and steak eventually leads to flabby thighs and love handles. I hope the upcoming “Jessica Simpson’s Intimates” line comes in plus sizes! Going vegetarian is the best way to get slim and stay that way.
Jesus! “Eating meat will make you fat.” How superficial (Ha ha! The name of this site.). But, seriously, PETA left out a few other pitfalls of being a carnivore that warrant your attention. What can I say? I’m a helper:
1. Meat will cause the Lifetime channel to go off the air. Or, at the very least, cancel Army Wives.
2. Feeding your husband meat will lead him straight into the arms of another woman. Who’s totally that chick at your work who you’d be friends with if only she didn’t have the same purse. Bitch.
3. AIDS: It’s what for dinner - if you eat meat.

Jenna Jameson unveiled her new PETA ad which suggests, to save our furry brethren, you should “Pleather Yourself.” Okay… done. Now what? Take a nap? On it. Wow, I rule at this. Fear not, woodland creatures, I’ve got you covered. (No pun intended.) Zzzz….

Good thing that PETA was no where Mary J Blige and Patti LaBelle at Mary's album release party because if they were they would have made their fur coats match the carpet.
BTW Patti LaBelle looks amazing even wearing fur.
