It’s been awhile (or a long while, in the case of the ARES CG6155) since we’ve heard about these machines, but ASUS has at long last decided to start shipping ‘em to retailers. The aforesaid gaming desktop still doesn’t have a publicly available price tag, but ASUS assures us that it’s out there now for those who know where to look. Thankfully, it was a bit (and we stress “bit”) more forthcoming with details on the G50 and G71 gaming notebooks, which are also available as we speak for $1,249.99 and take-your-best-guess, respectively.

Not that it really matters to consumers one way or another — after all, if you want a Bold, you’ll pay the asking price — but recent analysis by research firm iSuppli has found that parts and materials used to make the device “cost $158.16, and that assembly and testing add another $11.25, for a total cost of $169.41.” Just for comparison, the Curve costs a cool $103 to build, and assuming RIM can sell the Bold to carriers at around $350, it’ll net a gross margin of around 45% before R&D costs, software, marketing, shipping and freebies given to obscenely wealthy celebs are taken into account. The report (er, the part about the nice margins) should come as welcome news to shareholders, who have recently been worried that the current economic situation may keep individuals from snatching up new ‘Berrys at a breakneck pace. Now, if only RIM / AT&T would let the thing get through testing, we’d be all set to contribute to those margins here in the US. Ahem.

For obvious reasons, we don’t get too excited about PMPs developed and produced entirely in China, but similar to Gemei’s lot, Ainol looks to have a winner on its hands with the V3000. We’ve seen this display-dominated unit prancing around for awhile now, but we’ve just now learned how much the company plans on charging for it: 699 Chinese yuan, or around $102 before haggling. For that, you’ll get 4GB of internal space, a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 resolution display, FM tuner, TV output and a rechargeable battery. Now, where to find one is the real challenge.

Here it is, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Pricing for Sharp’s sexiest, freshest and altogether loveliest HDTVs has arrived. As stated at CEATEC in Japan, the 65-inch LC-65XS1U-S will sell for a whopping ¥1.28 million ($12,225), while the 52-inch LC-52XS1U-S goes for ¥980,000 ($9,243). We’d expect those figures to be a touch lower whenever they come stateside, but rest assured, you’ll be breaking into the piggy bank if either of these is to be your next set.

Take this with a pinch of NaCl, but Adorama has it that Panasonic’s Yasunori Takase confessed to a US price tag on the newly unveiled Lumix DMC-G1. During a leisurely chat at Photokina, the higher-up noted that the Micro Four Thirds camera would hit US soil for $799, though he didn’t bother to mention an expected ship date. If you’ll recall, we found that the G1 would start shipping at the tail end of October for ¥80,000 (around $750); considering that, we’d say $799 sounds about right over on this side of the world.

With under a week to go before the HTC Dream is officially unveiled in the Big Apple, the Wall Street Journal has given us something juicy to gnaw on for the time being: a price. Unsurprisingly positioned to compete directly with the iPhone 3G, the Android-powered HTC Dream / G1 will go for a cool $199 (with 2-year contract, obviously) when it launches on T-Mobile, though there’s no word yet on what it’ll run sans subsidization. So, how do you like dem Apples?

We put “free” in quotes for a reason, and now it seems the dark, nasty truth could be upon us. While pre-order prices on a retailer’s website should be taken as pure speculation and nothing more, a couple of notable examples reveal £70 to £85 premiums on the Comes with Music version of two phones. For instance, Expansys offers up Nokia’s N95 8GB for £394.99, but the CwM edition is a stiff £479.99. It’s hard to say if the prices are jacked up by Nokia’s directive, but again, we aren’t getting too riled up until these things launch for real.

For reasons unknown, netbook manufacturers (on the whole, at least) have been asking ridiculous sums of money for their wares, but now that the novelty of the sector is wearing off, we’re seeing those figures start to head south. Following in Acer’s footsteps, ASUS has evidently lowered the entry price for its Fine Ebony / Pearl White Eee PC 901 to $499.99. Yep, that’s the one with an 8.9-inch display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 12GB SSD and a 6-cell battery. So, is that low enough for you, or are you waiting for the Buy 1 Get 1 offer that may never come?

Ah, fiddlesticks! Here we were hoping that somehow ASUS could pack a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and NVIDIA’s GeForce 9300M GS into a netbook for under half a grand, but deep down, we knew it wasn’t to be. Instead, this (very) well-spec’d N10 is ringing up at $849 over at J&R’s website, but that also buys you a 10.2-inch LCD, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, a fingerprint reader, Windows Vista Business and a built-in webcam. Wondering when the charge will actually hit your card? “Coming Soon” is all we’ve got.

Mitsubishi has been trickling out details for its mysterious LaserVue HDTV for months now, but at long last, we finally know the most pertinent piece. Reportedly, the 65-inch set — which was seen lookin’ mighty fine on the CEDIA floor, by the way — will retail for $6,999 when it ships to Select Diamond retailers at the end of this month. The forthcoming 73-inch version doesn’t have a price / release date just yet, but given the way we’ve found things out about its smaller sibling, we can’t say we’re shocked in the least.

Not sure if you noticed (though you probably did), but these so-called netbooks never actually ended up being nearly as inexpensive as we were all led to believe. Matter of fact, some manufacturers even took the liberty of charging more than basic 15-inchers as they pimped the whole “pay a premium for portability” aspect. Nevertheless, we’re glad to see the stickers declining on at least one subset, as Acer has announced price drops today on its Aspire One. The Windows XP unit will fall to $349 (from $399), while the Linpus Linux Lite model will sink to $329 (from $379). Best of all, the longevous six-cell battery-packin’ flavor is now $399. So there’s good news and bad news, and we’re not even giving you the option of choosing which you’d prefer to hear first (hint: it’s the good). Sprint has dropped the price of its Phone-as-Modem plan (capped at 5GB monthly) to just $15 per month. Now, the rest of the story. First off, you must own a Power Vision phone with connection capabilities to a laptop. Next — unlike the old PAM plan which ran $49.99 / month all by itself — this “attachable plan” requires you to have another data plan already on your account. For instance, the BlackBerry Personal Pack ($30 / month) or the Worldwide Data Plan ($70 / month). In the end, it looks as if tethering in and of itself got cheaper, but those newfound strings that are reportedly attached will likely cause some frustration.

Though we can’t definitively say this will end up being the priciest iPhone 3G this side of eBay, there’s a good chance it will be. Word has it that Vodafone will be offering up Apple’s latest 8GB handset for a mind-boggling Rs 31,000 ($712), or Rs 36,100 ($830) for the 16 gigger. Why so serious high? Because neither Vodafone nor Airtel will subsidize the phone, and to add insult to injury, there’s not even a 3G highway up and running in India. Grey market operators to capitalize in T-minus 3, 2, 1…

Microsoft’s 20GB Xbox 360 Pro already stooped to $299, but one particular mole — the same one who correctly called the 60GB edition of the console — is suggesting that further slashing is in store. To be specific, we’re talking about a $199 Arcade (no HDD), $299 Pro (60GB HDD) and a $399 Elite (120GB HDD), all of which should be available at those prices sometime next month. Furthermore, it’s likely that Microsoft will toss out a few bundles in order to reel in the holiday shoppers, though details are sparse about which ones we’ll be seeing. Our take? Hold off just a bit — we get the feeling this here is more than hot air.

Wait, who’s this Mint character anyway? Ah, yes — that Australian firm that hires Aiptek to do at least some of its dirty work. The V10 mini projector that we spotted earlier this year has been blessed with an official price and release date, promising a VGA beam in the palm of your hand for around $600 this September. As a refresher, you’ll get 1GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot and a woefully inadequate 60 minutes of battery life. But hey, it’s ridiculously small.

MSI told us that a 6-cell version of its briskly-moving Wind was on the way. What it failed to mention, however, was the $50 premium that would be tacked on. The units including a 6-cell battery have been popping up in a few e-tailers here recently, with prices ranging from $559 to $599. According to an MSI representative, however, the official MSRP for the 6-cell units is $549.99 (versus $499.99 for the 3-cell edition). As you can tell, it seems that some places are taking the liberty of bundling in a little profit while demand is high. Worse still, users who managed to get their orders in at Buy.com for a $499.99 6-cell unit are now receiving cancellation notices. So, is the more capacious battery worth an extra 50 bones (or more) to you?

Bad news, Atom fans. That dual-core nugget of netbook-powering goodness that you were so looking forward to seeing in Q3 won’t begin shipping until Q4. According to some data picked up by Fudzilla, the Atom 330 will only be debuting in Q3 (September 21st, to be precise), but it isn’t scheduled to get a shipping label until a few months later. Also of note, we’re told that the chip will sell (at some place in the supply chain) for $43, but don’t count on those savings being completely passed onto you.

Gigabyte’s M912 has remained largely in the shadows since peeking its head out in early June, but now we’re finally getting a hint as to how much coin we’ll be forced to lay down in order to acquire one. Based on information from a Taiwanese poster over at UMPC Fever, the M912V, which arrives with Windows Vista, 1GB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth, should cost around $656. The WinXP-based M912X will reportedly check in at around $620, while the M912M arrives with a lower resolution display (1,024 x 600 versus 1,280 x 768 on the other two) and no Bluetooth for $556. Take all of this with a tablespoon of salt for now, but at least you’ve got a general frame of reference to work with as you plan out which netbook to squeeze into your gadget portfolio.

It’s a common problem, really. You’re eager to get Windows 3.1 back into your life, but you’ve no N810 to install it on. Good news retro software aficionados — said internet tablet has just tumbled to $299.99 (at CompUSA, at least), a full $90 less than the price we cheered over in March. Yeah, that 800 x 480 resolution display, VGA camera and full QWERTY keyboard is more attainable than ever, but with the possibility of a bombastic successor just around the bend, would it pay off even more to wait? The world may never know (although that’s highly unlikely).
