Leave it Ricky Gervais to bring down the normally high-brow Inside the Actors Studio to a level it has never seen and I am so glad he did! That is the funniest thing I have ever seen on the show! Way to go Ricky Gervais!!!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was on Conan O’Brien and he convinced her to get was they felt was rightfully hers…Tina Fey’s Emmy for Outstanding Comedic Actress. Seriously that was one of the funniest things I have seen the two of them do in a really long time.

Gotta love Jim Carrey, who else could show up to Letterman in just a bathrobe? And look good doing it!

Is it wrong that Craig Ferguson did better on that test than me and I am already a citizen? Oh wait he has his writers, they wrote him a cheat sheet…joking

It is the last part I am referring to where David Letterman messes with John Edwards hair. How sad and stupid.
But seriously how likable was John Edward on the show! Go Edwards!!!

Now that David Letterman got rid of the beard, maybe he can do something about his teeth and hair.

Jimmy Kimmel will be a guest on Jay Leno's show and then Jay Leno will be a guest on Jimmy Kimmel's show according to the NY Times!
In the course of meetings with the writers’ guild over what the hosts would be permitted to do and telephone discussions between the shows about mutual interests, Mr. Leno and Mr. Kimmel established a relationship, the late-night representatives said. Mr. Kimmel even offered some words of support for Mr. Leno on Wednesday during his first show back.
Mr. Leno, who has been the leading star in late-night television for well over a decade, extended an invitation to Mr. Kimmel, who then reciprocated, the representatives said.
Neither have been on the others show before Thursday, so it will be interesting to see these two interviewing the other one. Plus you know me anything that gives Kimmel more publicity is a good thing in my book!!!
Hopefully the New York hosts will do the same for each other because the WGA is trageting Conan O"Brien, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert on Monday when the latter two join Conan and go back on the air for the first time since the strike started.

via Jimmy Kimmel Live!!!
Jimmy Kimmel has said what I have been saying about the strike and the late night talk shows. I guess that is why I like so much, great minds think alike!!! What was not seen in that monologue is that he has segments on the shows that showed past clips which he called so the unemployed writers can get residuals. Way to go Jimmy!!!!
Here are the other monologues in no particular order…
In my opinion I think the hosts that didn’t have writers did better than the two on the bottom who did.I think Jay Leno was hysterical and I normally don’t laugh at his monologues.
Personally I think that Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien who did not their writers did a funnier monologue than David Letterman and Craig Ferguson who did have their writers. I have to admit that was the first time I laughed at one Leno’s monologue in a really long time and the first time I actually saw one of Conan’s. I also to admit I got a few chuckles with Craig’s but not many with David Letterman.

Even coming back to TV could not get David Letterman and Conan O'Brien to shave their beards. Letterman looks like what Santa Claus looks like after Christmas is done and puts on his day job attire while Conan O'Brien looks like he is wearing a fake beard. Guys you are back on TV…shave. Jimmy Kimmel did and he made Guillermo shave his goatee off during the show.

Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, David Letterman and Craig Ferguson are all joining Carson Daly and returning to TV for the first time since the WGA strike began two months ago.
Kimmel, Leno and O'Brien are returning without their writers and are rumored to have the disadvantage of booking guests because stars will not cross the line to appear on their show. I can tell you there are many great musical acts, sports stars, Presidential candidates, comedians and reality stars who will be willing to fill the slots and sometimes they make much better guests! The writers have said they will be picketing outside Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel's studios in protest of them returning. I understand what the writers are trying to say, but these guys are returning to help their non-writing staff and not because they want to.
So when it comes to supporting the talk show hosts, I am supporting Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Carson Daly only! So good luck to you guys, I know you need it!
And BTW Jimmy Kimmel is back….Yahoo!!!

David Letterman who returns with his writers tomorrow bumped Donald Trump for Robin Williams as his first guest according to NY Times. Donald Trump was originally scheduled as the first guest even before Letterman got the OK to come back, but once he got a better guest he moved him to later in the show. Of course Letterman's people said this:
Mr. Williams is a member of SAG. Mr. Trump, who is not, could have appeared as the first night’s guest for Mr. Letterman, but he will now move to another night’s show, a spokesman for Worldwide Pants said.
Yeah that is why they bumped him. TV analysts are saying that Letterman will do better in the ratings than Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien becasue he has his writers and can "allegedly" get better guests because he made a deal with the WGA, but for some reason I think the others will win out. People are more curious to see how the other guys are going to handle the show without writers as compared to someone who will be handed all his jokes because he is unfunny without them. Seriously who would have written the Top 10 without them?
Actually I don't think most people care who has writers and who doesn't, they are just going to go back to the show they always watched. I know I will be watching the only one I have always been watching…so good luck Jimmy Kimmel I know you are going to kick a$$!!!
Who are you guys going to watch?
UPDATE: Craig Ferguson will be returning with his writers also, but there has been no mention who will be first guests.

David Letterman and Craig Ferguson will be joining Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and did I mention Jimmy Kimmel by returning to the late night airwaves on Wednesday. But unlike the others and Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert (who return on the 7th) and Spike Feresten (on the 12th) both shows will be returning with their writers after reaching an agreement with The WGA according Variety.
I am glad that all of late night is coming back together!!! And as you guys know I am over the moon to have a new episode of Jimmy Kimmel on the 2nd!!!

As expected NBC made the announcement today that Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien will return to their shows on January 2nd!
After two months of repeats, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" will resume broadcasting all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2008 (11:35 p.m., 12:35 a.m., respectively).
The late night shows suspended production due to the strike by the Writers Guild of America on November 5 and have aired repeats since.
"During the 1988 writers strike, Johnny Carson reluctantly returned to 'The Tonight Show' without his writers after two months. Both Jay and Conan have supported their writers during the first two months of this WGA strike and will continue to support them. However, there are hundreds of people who will be able to return to work as a result of Jay's and Conan's decision," said Rick Ludwin, Executive Vice President, Late Night & Primetime Series.
I am glad that late night is slowly returning, now if only Jimmy Kimmel would come back it would make Christmas a little more special!

David Letterman reminds me of a lumberjack or Santa Claus on the off-days. Conan O'Brien just looks sad trying to grow a beard.
BTW there are a lot of rumors that news of latenight returning will be confirmed as early as Monday.

Variety is reporting that the Late Night Talk Show hosts on NBC and CBS are in talks to return to TV on January 7th.
Nothing's been officially decided, and nobody will comment. But with the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers so broken up, people familiar with the situation said several hosts are nearing the conclusion that it's time to return.
Latenight hosts have stayed off the job since the strike began out of deference to their scribes. And while talks were ongoing, they didn't want to take away any leverage from WGA negotiators by returning. They even went so far as to begin paying their nonscribe staffs out of their own pockets.
So who will come back first? There's some talk that the Big Four hosts — David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson — may all return around the same time. While informal discussions between the NBC and CBS camps have continued via backchannels throughout the strike (Daily Variety, Nov. 16), absolutely nothing like that has been agreed upon.
Latenight insiders, however, believe Leno and O'Brien are most likely to return in early January, no matter what Letterman decides. NBC has to be concerned about the plunging ratings for both shows, which in recent weeks have lost nearly half their audience.
I don't think it as much the ratings decline, but the fact that they are paying the non-writing staff out of their own pocket. Also according to the trade, the writers of Letterman and Leno would understand if the shows went back on the air after all they were off the air for two months.
Finally they talked about Jimmy Kimmel, who is sadly not part of the talks maybe because his ratings have actually been doing OK and might be picking up viewers from the other 4, and they said he might also be returning. Kimmel has not been vocal about his status, so there is no way to know if he will be returning to but I miss him and want him back soon!

After 24 hours of really bad publicity Jay Leno followed the suits of David Letterman (who is also paying Craig Kilbourn's staff) and Conan O'Brien and paying the non-writing staff of his show out of his pocket for the next week according to The Hollywood Reporter. For obvious reasons the staff was not happy with Jay Leno who kept telling them would be OK if they were laid off. But when push came to shove they were laid off yesterday with a Christmas bonus of $100 for each year they worked for him.
But "Tonight Show" insiders say Leno's actions have destroyed morale at the show and in the process dented the host's previously squeaky-clean reputation as one of television's A-list nice guys.
"A lot of people don't want to work for Jay anymore," another staffer said. "His true colors have shown. We were told he won't cross the picket line until David Letterman or Conan O'Brien do so that he can look like the good guy to the WGA."
All of the laid-off workers who spoke for this article asked that their names not be used.
Insiders said the source of the sudden hostility toward Leno is a conference call he held shortly after the WGA strike began.
"He was on speaker phone," a staffer said. "There were 80 of us. He told us not to panic. He said to trust him. He said: 'I can't get into details, but nobody will miss a car payment or lose their house. We're family. Trust me. I'm going to take care of this.' But that was the time we should have been looking for new jobs."
More recently, a letter NBC sent to now-laid-off staffers said, "If your services are needed, we will contact you."
"That's standard boilerplate," said Joe Medeiros, a striking writer who has worked with Leno for 18 years. "It's corporate butt-covering."
Corporate butt-covering or not I wonder if the staff will be going through this all over again when Jay Leno loses his show to Conan O'Brien? I also wonder if he would have paid the staff if all the negative press did not come out about him yesterday?

Today is the last day that the non-writing staff will be paid by NBC and will effectively be laid off. Conan O'Brien said he will be paying his 80 person staff out his own pocket. Unlike David Letterman he does not own the show, so it is really coming out of his own pocket. Way to go Conan!
When it comes to Jay Leno's staff they are SOL as of today. Leno does not own the show and according to DHD since he is mad at NBC and Jeff Zucker for still passing the torch to Conan and will not be crossing the line anytime soon.
Now what about the only talk show host to cross the line, why did he do it. Well also according to DHD Carson Daly was told return to TV now or you will not have a show to return to.

NBC announced that Last Call with Carson Daly will be the late night talk show to go back in production since the WGA strike according to The Hollywood Reporter. Daly will be taping shows in the same place that Ellen tapes her, so that will make it easier for the protesters striking the shows for being new.
Last week there were reports that Jay Leno, David Letterman and Conan O'Brien were in talks to either return December 3rd or Demember 10th, but looks like Daly beat them to the punch. No word if they will be joining Daly with new episodes or when my boy Jimmy Kimmel will be back! Personally I hope that Kimmel follows the man he discovered and is back on the air soon because I am having major withdrawal and the repeats are just not hitting the spot.
