If the Intel-based GX620 and GX720 were too, um, Intel-y for your liking, how’s about a fat slice of AMD? MSI has just announced the availability of its freshest duo of AMD-powered gaming notebooks, the GX630 (shown above) and GT735 (shown after the break). Both units pack a Turion X2 Ultra dual-core processor and possess the ability to be overclocked by up to 15% at the touch of a button with the Turbo Drive Engine technology. The former also boasts a 15.4-inch LCD, NVIDIA’s 512MB GeForce 9600M GT, up to 4GB of RAM, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, optional Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, integrated stereo speakers, a 4-in-1 card reader, VGA out, a 2-megapixel webcam and a DVD writer (Blu-ray optional). The brawnier GT735 steps it up with a 17-inch panel, ATI’s 512MB Mobility Radeon HD 3850, a five speaker system including a subwoofer and most everything else already found on its partner in crime. Maybe it’s a netbook, or maybe it’s a ridiculously small notebook. Whatever it is, it’s recalled. Raon Digital has issued a recall for its delightfully tiny Everun Note due to a handful of “failure symptoms” detailed on its Korean website. Best we (and Pocketables) can tell, users hearing a high-pitched fan tone, seeing a “Blue Screen phenomenon,” or getting torched by an unfathomably hot CPU have a problematic unit, and even if your battery indicator is acting wonky, you too are entitled to a replacement. It’s not clear whether affected users will be gifted with a new unit or if they’ll receive their old machine back in tip-top condition, but either way, we’d hit the read link and do a little investigating if you own one of these puppies.

It’s with an indescribable amount of stifled jubilation that we bring to you yet another netbook: Raon Digital’s Everun Note. Made official today in South Korea, the previously AMD-branded rig will feature a 7-inch LCD (1,024 x 600), Windows XP Home, your choice of an 80GB hard drive or 12GB SSD, a 1.2GHz AMD Turion CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, integrated WiFi / Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, a 1.3-megapixel camera, an SD / MMC card slot and a decent array of ports for the size. Going by the papers, it’ll last around 2.5 hours when surfing the web, and while a price is eluding us just now, expect it to emerge shortly as it arrives in North America next month.

For those of you looking to get into HP’s Pavilion tx2500z Puma-based tablet PC, the time has come. This “echo” inlaid-design ultraportable sports a 12.1-inch 1280 x 800 swivel touch screen with handwriting capture, AMD Turion Dual-Core processor, ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics chipset, and WiFi. Other features of note include a fingerprint reader, webcam, 5-in-1 media card reader, and 3 USB ports. Unfortunately — and we think this should be a standard on subnotebooks starting yesterday — no built-in broadband wireless. That said, you can add a Verizon Wireless V740 ExpressCard during customization checkout. The base configuration will run you a somewhat reasonable $1,049. Go to it, tablet scribblers!

In case it wasn’t completely obvious already that Toshiba had a thing for AMD’s latest line of notebook processors, here’s all the confirmation you need. Tosh has just made official that the next-generation of Athlon, Turion and Turion Ultra CPUs will be “available throughout” its Satellite lineup. If you’re hunting specifics, we’re talkin’ about the P300D, A300D, M300D, U400D, L300D and L350D series — all of which are scheduled to go on sale sometime this summer from a variety of fine retailers.

It looks like those worried that AMD didn’t have any new processors in the pipeline can rest easy, as an apparently official roadmap turned up by ComputerBase recently revealed that the company is, in fact, doing its job and churning out CPUs at a steady pace. This latest batch consists of four Griffin-based chips, which are spread across the company’s Turion 64 Ultra, Turion 64, Athlon 64, and Sempron mobile processor lines. On the Turion front, the processors are each said to boast DDR2 800MHz memory, along with clock speeds ranging from 2.0GHz to 2.4GHz, and power consumption between 32 and 35 Watts. The lone Athlon 64 chip, on the other hand, clocks in at 1.9GHz, with 1MB of L2 cache, DDR2 667MHz support, and a power consumption of 31W, while the Sempron rounds things out with a power consumption of 25W, 512KB of L2 cache, and a clock speed “starting from” 2.0GHz. No word on prices for the processors themselves just yet, but as Laptoping points out, AMD has announced that Puma / Griffin-powered laptops would begin shipping sometime in the second quarter of this year.

If you were already curious as to where AMD would be using its newly announced 780 Series motherboard GPU, lookie here. During a CeBIT press event held today in Germany, AMD solidified details of its looming Puma mobile platform, which will be based on the outfit’s Griffin CPU and RS780M chipset. In order for laptops to sport the Puma branding, it must house a Griffin CPU (officially named Turion Ultra), RS780M chipset and a WiFi adapter. According to AMD, Puma-fied lappies will begin shipping at the close of Q2 2008 and will range from $699 to $2,500 (at least initially), but we’ve no idea which manufacturers will be on board.
