As usual, Apple’s capped off the day’s news by posting the video of the keynote. Just in case you missed the action in today’s liveblog (or you want to relive the moment where Steve says “3G” and the audience spontaneously combusts), hit the link below. Us? We’ll be taking a breather.
For those on Apple overload: don’t worry, a little more will be trickling out but it’s almost over.

We’re just four days away from WWDC, so the rumor mill is churning at a fever pitch — and the latest context-less bits of info to emerge from the churn are these purported photos of the 3G iPhone’s touchscreens over at iLounge. Yeah, that’s touchscreens, plural — if these are to believed, Apple’s got two sizes of iPhone in store for us on Monday: a 3.2-inch model, and a smaller 2.8-inch model. Note that both of those sizes are smaller than the current iPhone’s 3.5-inch screen, which seems slightly implausible — but kinda-sorta matches up with other rumors we’ve heard, including those persistent “iPhone nano” whispers from last year. We still really doubt that Apple will shrink the iPhone’s screen size, however, and there are literally hundreds of touchscreen iPhone KIRFs these panels could have come from, so we’d say there’s a better chance this is just more hype — but we know y’all have your own ideas. Let us know in comments!
[Thanks, Sleuth]

Rumor roll call: 3G iPhone: check. Mid-range Mac desktop: check. Tablet MacBook: check. Tablet iPod touch: check. New MacBook Pros: check. Wait. You do realize that this is WWDC, and Apple usually only announces one, maybe two new pieces of hardware, right? They really just tend to focus on the software being that it’s their, um, worldwide developer conference. (iPhone 2.0 firmware: check. OS X 10.6: check. Me.com: check.) Whatever, set your alarm clocks because we’ll be there blowing it out live.

Also, how do you want us to write this thing up? We usually do the latest updates at the bottom (so it reads like anything else — top to bottom); at Macworld we polled and did newest updates at the top, and a lot of people told us afterward that they preferred it the old way. So, what say you?

The pre-WWDC Apple rumor mill has finally churned out something that doesn’t have the words “3G” and “iPhone” involved — sources have told both Ars Technica and our friends at TUAW that Steve will also use his keynote to introduce the next major version of OS X, codenamed “Snow Leopard.” As the derivative release name indicates, there aren’t many changes in store from 10.5 Leopard — Apple’s said to instead be focusing on tightening up speed and stability as it starts producing more mobile devices. What’s more, this could be the end of PowerPC and Universal support in OS X, as Snow Leopard is said to be Intel-only. That’s bound to ruffle a few feathers, but things could get even more heated if Carbon is deprecated as is also being rumored. We’ll see when we see — Monday can’t get here fast enough.

On June 9th, Steve Jobs will be speaking at WWDC. Plans are vague right now, but we understand he will give two lectures on Sudoku, a shirt-folding seminar, and will discuss the possibilities of using a perpetual motion machine to replace the engine in his 1986 Volvo. Afterwards, every developer gets a hug and a low five. It’s unlikely he’ll discuss the 3G iPhone.

Apple’s next big event is still over two months away, but the iPhone rumor mill is suddenly in full swing, and we’d say the buzz is back after that short-lived Mossberg “60 days” euphoria wore off. Tgdaily is the one making waves today, claiming that we’ll see next-gen 8GB and 16GB iPhones debut at WWDC this June for $399 and $499, and that the iPod touch will always offer twice the storage at any given price point. The new units are said to feature revised casings that eliminate the current model’s “plasticky” feel, which is interesting, because that supposedly-leaked image from the other day seems pretty ultra-plasticky to us, but we’re not exactly expecting any of these rumors to be true, let alone add up. Other than the re-design, tgdaily says there aren’t any OS or interface changes in store, and that Apple is really serious about building the Cocoa Touch platform in addition to OS X– hence the two bridges on those WWDC invites that went out. That’s about it — nothing too shocking, really, but we’d still take all this stuff with a huge grain of salt until Steve sets things straight.

Mark your calendars, Apple fans — WWDC officially kicks off June 9th this year (running until the 13th). Expect Mac, iPhone, and IT tracks for your varied Apple platform development needs. No official word yet as to whether El Jobso will be taking the stage at this WWDC, but it certainly wouldn’t be an Apple event without him.

Here is a pretty funny video from WWDC 2007 using Justin Long and the other guy that plays PC on the commercials. PC claims to be Steven Jobs and talks about Apple shutting down due to Windows Vista massive sales.
It’s quite entertaining actually.

Steven Jobs’ Mercedes on Google Maps Street View (Images)
While checking out a site that I have been looking at a lot lately I came across something so ridiculous that I can’t believe I’m even taking the time on a Sunday night when The Simpson’s are on to write this.
It seems that the picture above is apparently Steven Jobs‘ Mercedes. First off, we can’t be sure that it’s his Mercedes in the first place, and second, who cares if it is his!
I have to admit I have been on this site where there are a lot of funny Street View pictures quite a bit but this one just made me laugh how dumb it was. The other ones on the site are pretty hilarious however.
P.S. Don’t forget the Jobs will be speaking at the WWDC tomorrow morning!

Apple iPhone could shed some light on third-party application issues. (Images)
If I was a millionaire…
I would buy a team of techs to resolve all the issues around the iPhone.
iPhone critics have only focused on a few major issues surrounding Apple’s new phone, that we now know to be released on June 29. Those major issues, in no particular order, are
- No removable battery (remember the first generation ipod batteries!)
- No 3G Radio
- Support for third party applications
However, last week at the D: All Things digital conference, Steven Jobs said that Apple was looking for ways to make it possible for developers to create software for the iPhone. Small applications that are developed and written for Mac should easily be able to convert and run on the iPhone.
I guess we will have to wait and see.
Other known issues with the iPhone:
- No over the air iTunes Store downloads or WiFi syncing to your host
- No expandable memory
- No Microsoft Exchange or Office Support
